2008 Chamber Music Series

2008 Chamber Music SeriesCounseling Center Chamber Music Series Raises A Joyful Sound In The Community

For the past eleven years, The Counseling Center has enriched the experience of Westchester residents by sponsoring Chamber Music Concerts in the exquisite sanctuary of Christ Church in Bronxville. Musicians with national and international reputations come into our community to perform the finest works of the chamber literature on three Sunday afternoons at 2:30 . This year, the concert dates are February 24, March 16 and April 13.

Artistic Director Ronald Arron, a Westchester resident and violist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra until his recent retirement, has found his musician colleagues eager and willing to join him. Mr. Arron comments, “I am happy that my friends take time away from their hectic schedule to play this beautiful music, But then, there is no better setting to perform or hear chamber music than the Christ Church sanctuary.”

A frequent performer is Mr Arron’s son, Edward Arron, renowned cellist and Artistic Director of the Metropolitan Museum Artists in Concert who broadcast simultaneously on WQXR. The New York Times has called Edward Arron’s group “beguiling” and hailed him as “a superb cellist.”

Audiences attending the Chamber Music Series have commented on how much they enjoy the intimacy of the musical experience, including the commentary at each concert by the performers about the works, and the reception with Mr. Arron and the musicians afterwards. Families are encouraged to bring older children with an interest in music who will be inspired by close proximity to these extraordinary performers.

Many generous donors who have supported the series over the years ensure that ticket prices for the public remain reasonable, at $25 and $15 for seniors and students, dramatically less than comparable concerts in New York City . Tickets are available in advance by calling The Counseling Center or at Christ Church at the time of the concert.

Any funds raised beyond the cost of the concerts help The Counseling Center subsidize those clients who cannot afford the full cost of treatment.
