1971
James Walkup becomes the Director of The Counseling Center of Southern Westchester, a part of the Foundation for Religion and Mental Health (FRMH). The office is in an upstairs office at Christ Church in Bronxville.

1973
Catherine Nicholas joins as staff therapist.

1980
Ten year milestone finds 6 therapists in three office sites; a suite of offices on the lower floor at Christ Church, an office at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, and at the Parish of Christ the Redeemer in Pelham.
Community Fund begins its support of The Counseling Center of Southern Westchester, which continues to this day.

1982
Friends of the Center founded in Bronxville - Vicki Ford and Sheila Stein among first members.
An Advisory Board of 5 members from Scarsdale and Bronxville is formed.

1984
First Benefit Brunch is held at Scarsdale Country Club.

1986
Fifteen years finds the staff grown to 9 with larger offices.

1988
Child & Family Program opens with two new offices at The Reformed Church.

1989
Dr. Bill Greenham, superintendent of th Bronxville School, becomes Chairman of Advisory Board.

1991
James Walkup steps down after twenty years of leadership of The Counseling Center of Southern Westchester. He remains a staff member.

1996
New office site established at Congregational Church in Scarsdale.

|

1997
Dick Shoup, a staff member for ten years, becomes Director.
|
|

1998
The Counseling Center finds a new home at The Reformed Church.
|
|

1999
After 27 years of affiliation with FRMH, The Counseling Center forms a new non-profit corporation, The Counseling Center, Inc.

2000
A new logo is created - a Chambered Nautilus. A 30 year Celebration is held at Christ Church.
